Psalm 7, Paraphrase

Lyrics and music by Shane Heilman (lyrics with chords)

  1. O LORD, my God, in You I place my trust

  2. O LORD, my God, in You I place my trust

Rescue me from those who persecute me

    And deliver me

  3. Or they'll devour my soul like a lion

  4. Tearing me to pieces while my screams ring out in vain

  5. O LORD, my God, if I have done what they say

  6. If I'm the one in the wrong

  7. If I have rewarded evil unto one who was at peace with me

  8. Then let my enemies come and have their way with me

  9. Let them take everything

Let them take their shots at me until I'm dead

And drag my name through the dirt

    Selah

  10. Arise, rise, rise, LORD, in Your anger

  11. And wage, wage war against the anger of my enemies

  12. Gather them into Your courts of justice

  13. Ascend to Your judgment seat

  14. And rain down justice from Your holy throne

  15. Declare them guilty as they are

Acquit me of their charges and vindicate me

According to my innocence and my integrity

  16. For the righteous God searches the mind and heart

  17. He will establish the just and end all wickedness

  18. And I have a shield from God who rescues those in the right

  19. And every day His anger burns against the wicked ones

  20. And if they will not turn around…

  21. He has sharpened His sword

And He has bent back His bow

  22. And taken aim with His arrows He set on fire

  23. Because His foes are intent on evil

  24. And they conceive nothing but worthless lies

  25. And they have set a trap for me to fall into

  26. But they will fall into the pit they made

  27. Their evil will recoil and return to them

  28. Their violence will come back around

    And ruin them instead

  29. And I will praise the LORD

  30. According to His righteousness

And I will sing praise to the Most High
