CHAPTER 3: THE FIRST ATTEMPT AT A ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT

”And upon her forehead was a name written, mystery, Babylon the great, the Mother of harlots and abominations of the earth.”

(Rev. 17:5)

Societal rejection of God is rooted in individual refusal to believe and submit to Him. Global humanism began to quickly emerge on earth as corrupt people attempted to govern themselves. Because evil became so rampant, God reduced the earth’s population to Noah’s family. But as this family grew over time many again forgot the Lord. As selfishness and pride began to take over the minds of the earth’s population, men tried to form a one world government.

Nimrod, a great grandson of Noah through the line of Ham, founded the city of Babel. Babel (the same as Babylon) means confusion. Nimrod’s name means rebellion.

Cush also had Nimrod. He was the first great warrior on Earth. He was a great hunter before GOD. There was a saying, “Like Nimrod, a great hunter before GOD.” His kingdom got its start with Babel; then Erech, Akkad, and Calneh in the country of Shinar.

(Gen. 10:8-10, The Message)

Here is what happened at Babel as explained in Gen. 11:1-9:

“Now the whole earth had one language and one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and they dwelt there. Then they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick for stone, and they had asphalt for mortar. And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. And the LORD said, “Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them. Come, let Us go down and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.” So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over the face of all the earth, and they ceased building the city. Therefore its name is called Babel, because there the LORD confused the language of all the earth; and from there the LORD scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.”

(Gen. 11:1-9, NKJV)

This group of people, the earth’s entire population had settled on a plain in the land of Shinar. Their technology enabled them to manufacture bricks by baking them. They concluded that they could use “brick for stone and asphalt for mortar.” Feeling confident, they decided to build a city where they would govern themselves and make a name for “themselves.” They were unified, not just in language but in building something apart from God. They sought to separate themselves from Him, and they thought that by exalting their own name, it would prevent them from being scattered abroad over the face of the earth.

Obviously, God was not pleased with man’s attempt to establish a one world government apart from Him. He made the same judgment concerning them as He did with Adam and Eve in the garden. There he had stationed an angel with a flaming sword to prevent them from partaking of the Tree of Life. No longer would he allow them to have a personal relationship with Him while they were in that contaminated condition. God has and will continue to restrain man from exalting humanity’s name above His own.

It is said that absolute power corrupts absolutely. While this statement is true in a general sense, it is simply not true in an absolute sense. God is love and He has absolute power. But He is not corrupt. Evil corrupts, and when people who are internally aligned to evil have any power…. Well you know what happens. We see it happening everywhere today before our very eyes.

God will continue to restrain mankind’s willful self-exaltation until the appropriate time when He will fully establish His order for eternity.

“Now, friends, read these next words carefully. Slow down and don’t go jumping to conclusions regarding the day when our Master, Jesus Christ, will come back and we assemble to welcome him. Don’t let anyone shake you up or get you excited over some breathless report or rumored letter from me that the day of the Master’s arrival has come and gone. Don’t fall for any line like that.

Before that day comes, a couple of things have to happen. First, the Apostasy. Second, the debut of the Anarchist, a real dog of Satan. He’ll defy and then take over every so-called god or altar. Having cleared away the opposition, he’ll then set himself up in God’s Temple as “God Almighty.” Don’t you remember me going over all this in detail when I was with you? Are your memories that short?

You’ll also remember that I told you the Anarchist is being held back until just the right time. That doesn’t mean that the spirit of anarchy is not now at work. It is, secretly and underground.

But the time will come when the Anarchist will no longer be held back, but will be let loose. But don’t worry. The Master Jesus will be right on his heels and blow him away. The Master appears and--puff!--the Anarchist is out of there.

The Anarchist’s coming is all Satan’s work. All his power and signs and miracles are fake, evil sleight of hand that plays to the gallery of those who hate the truth that could save them. And since they’re so obsessed with evil, God rubs their noses in it--gives them what they want. Since they refuse to trust truth, they’re banished to their chosen world of lies and illusions.”

(2Thess. 2:1 -12, The Message)

Babel or Babylon is a biblical term representing man’s attempt to govern himself without God. God will never allow this to come to full fruition even though Satan is presently leading men to make one final attempt at it.

It is important in these days to see what is happening in our new global perspective. For the first time in history, the technology has advanced to such a point, that we can become a global society. It is also critical to see the warning signs of globalization. As in any economy, money is the key. As our economy in the U.S. continues to remain stagnant, it affects the entire world. It appears that the collapse of economic systems is a tool evil will use to seize power. When people depend on any government without God, economic failure will ensue. As our moral foundation collapses all over the world, can you see the monetary ramifications? Is it possible that there will be an even greater economic collapse than what occurred in 2008? Will this be a trigger for one to rise up and be a savior leading to unmistakable events? A unique environment must exist for people to give power to someone. Today as I edit this chapter, a new president was elected in France. In an economy where there is no money to continue policies of government spending to support the population of that country, a socialist was elected to provide more government spending of money it doesn’t have. In an environment of austerity because there is no money, the people of France have spoken. A unique environment seems to be forming. Might a savior arise from the middle of the European Union?
