Freedom in God's Divine Order for Women

Foreword

Something is afoot. Today we see a proliferation of books written to redefine the role of women in the Church. What’s up? Are the Scriptures not clear on this subject? To some, it is not only permissible; it is imperative that women step up to their proper places of leadership both in the home and in the Church.

Clearly, there are many Christian women who seem anointed to preach, counsel, write, and lead others in the faith. What are we to do? Should we seek to rewrite the plain meaning of Scripture so as to make room for such activity?

Or is such a question based on a wrong premise? John Whritenor tackles the tough questions without pulling any punches. His conclusion is that God’s order in His house releases all its members to function in obedience to the Holy Spirit. Women are to rise up in response to the Spirit’s leading. But God has provided for them a safe place to do so. In the Church and in the home, husbands must learn to reveal through a headship relationship with their wives, Christ’s love for His Church.

Just as Christ’s headship in the Church sets His people free to follow His Spirit’s leading (within Scriptural boundaries), so also proper headship revealed in the Christian home will liberate Christian women to fully obey the Holy Spirit’s strategy for them in this present generation.
