Freedom in God's Divine Order for Women

Epilogue

Thank you for your patience in reading this far. My prayer is that you will hear God for yourself on the issues presented here. He is the only one who has a perfect theology. But wait. Please read just a bit further.

Now that you have read the whole paper, please close it and look at the cover. What do you see? It isn’t just about a chess game. There is much more than what I included in the preface. Listen to the heart of the artist as she[117] describes what the picture means to her:

“For me this cover page portrays the significance of the way God has set things up in His plan of creation. Looking at 1 Corinthians, chapter 15, verses 38-41, we see He has set things with one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory (verse 41). But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body. All flesh is not the same flesh …(verses 38 - 39a). “So every piece has its own attributes and properties and is very specially, specially placed. Nothing can become something else!

“In the game of chess, each piece has its own peculiar boundaries of motion. How they play with each other seems to emulate the above Scripture in a unique way. Thus, though the queen is very, very powerful, she can never have the same properties as the king. The game would be lost if she and the king played each other’s roles. The order of the game would be turned into chaos if anything but the plan is in effect.

“To me this picture speaks that both pieces are powerful but were ordained to different roles. Thus all the rigmarole about both being equal becomes silly, if you apply the analogy from the game of chess.

“I only add the words, ‘It’s not just a game,’ to say that it is much, much more than a picture of a game. There is hidden wisdom in God’s eternal plans for all creation and all mankind.”

Author’s Note – I have tried to analyze the question of a woman’s place in the church objectively, especially as it relates to church government. You will have to decide if I have been successful. There are many who want the church to follow society in abolishing all gender distinctions. If this has been your view, then I hope you will have tried to read this paper with an open mind. On the other hand, if you were beginning to have doubts about your view, I hope that God has been able to convince you of the truth of His divine order. Finally, if you began as a complementarian, I pray that this book has helped to establish you more firmly in your theology.
