Fulfilling the Mystery
[1] This is not to imply that Christ’s second coming was either irrelevant to the early Church or not an apostolic burden. Clearly it was. However, the primary emphasis in the apostolic writings had to do with what God was doing in their present generation in light of both what had happened at Calvary and what would occur at the end of history.

[3] Notice, it is not dependent on the apostles, prophets, pastors, etc. The word says that in light of the significant problems at Laodicea, Christ’s solution was that if anyone heard His voice, He would come to them and dine with them.
The solution for every backslidden church is for any believer present to hear Christ’s knocking and draw close in intimate relationship with Him. When they turn to Him, they will immediately see that the door into heavenly revelation and relationship stands open to them because of Calvary. Then, from that place of intimacy, God can begin to reveal His heart. Too often, frustrated believers point the finger of accusation at what is wrong in the local church without spending time at the dining table of intimacy with the One who has the answers for that congregation.
[4] Just before going to the cross Jesus declared in prayer that He had given to His disciples the glory that the Father had given Him (John 17:22). So God’s glory is now in some measure upon the emerging city.

[7] Just to be clear, Deism is not a biblical theological option.
[8] In one sense, God’s field is the world. The planet belongs to Him by right of creation (Psalm 24:1). The devil comes to pollute the earth with philosophies of darkness and works of wickedness. Jesus spoke of those cooperating with Satan as sons of the wicked one and as weeds in His field (Matthew 13:38). However, in a very unique way, the Church is God’s field as well (1Corinthians 3:9). The Lord casts the seed of His word into our hearts in order to bring forth a crop of spiritual fruit in us revealing His holy character.
