Review of Book 1 – Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom

[13] Our Culture’s view of tolerance goes beyond the traditional definition. We are expected to do more than live side by side with those with whom we disagree. We are also told to not criticize their perspectives and practices. For example, in order to tolerate sexual sin, Christians are expected to refrain from saying that it deserves God’s judgment.

Chapter Two. A Way to Describe My Heart
[16] The names and ideas behind Child, Parent, and Adult are based on similar names and ideas in Harris, I’m OK, You’re OK

Chapter Three. The Battle at the OK Stronghold
[18] In all of these games that I will list, it isn’t for sure that my management was actually saying what I perceived. I may have misinterpreted their intentions based on the stronghold in my heart.
Chapter Four. Juries, Fantasies, and Monsters
[21] Cadden, Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom, 68-70
[22] You are about to read what I see going on in the United States. I realize that I am not a trained expert. I share my opinions as someone who has tried, by the wisdom of God, to make sense of the world in which I live.
[23] I realize that I am skipping over the whole question of how we should apply the Old Testament Law in the light of the New Testament. It’s too big of a question for this book, and the details aren’t important for what I am saying. It is enough to understand that God has given us laws that tell us how to live. He has unchanging standards of right and wrong like “You shall not commit adultery.” We don’t earn our way to heaven by keeping them (we don’t play “I’ll prove myself” with God), but they are rules that describe what He wants us to do.
[24] The punishments of civil and religious courts, when they are done well, help to hold back those who might hurt others (Romans 13:1-7, I Corinthians 5:5-13).
[25] Learning the evidence about the Bible’s accuracy helped my faith. I won’t write much about this evidence in these books. If you are interested in some intellectual defenses of Christianity, I have found the following books to be helpful: The Resurrection Factor, Josh McDowell, Here’s Life Publishers, Inc., 1981; Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Volume I, Josh McDowell, Here’s Life Publishers, Inc., 1972; Evidence that Demands a Verdict, Volume II, Josh McDowell, Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1975.
[26] I have borrowed the terms angst and authenticity from a philosophy called existentialism.
[27] Chernobyl was the site of a major nuclear reactor accident in 1986.
Chapter Eight. Breaking the OK Stronghold
[28] Cadden, Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom, 66-67
Chapter Ten. OK Buster 2 – I am Eternally OK by the Blood of Christ
[29] I wrote several pages about forgiveness of sins through the blood of Christ in the first book of this series, Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom, 27-29
[30] Cadden, Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom, 16-17
[31] I call this Pinocchio theology: Always let your conscience be your guide.
[32] In Exchanged Glory: A Vision of Freedom, pages 52-54, I described willful sins and sins that spring out of foolishness. Willful sins are those that we know how to avoid. Sins that spring out of foolishness are those that we don’t. We walk with a clear conscience by avoiding willful sins and seeking God for the wisdom to fully repent from sins that spring from foolishness. We rely on the blood of Jesus for our failures with both.
[33] I currently plan to include a toned down version of one of those prayers in the fourth book of this series, Exchanged Glory IV: A Time for Every Purpose.
Chapter Twelve. OK Buster 4 – Life isn’t about Feeling OK by My Standards; it is about Knowing Jesus

Chapter Fourteen. The Degree that We have Already Attained
[40] If I was married at the time, I would have needed to be more careful about revealing my secrets. Married people should consider the feelings of their families (which is why I am writing this series of books under a pseudonym).
